Lisa Miller: Welcome to the Team

Lisa Miller: Welcome to the Team

6/22/2021

A West Michigan Native, Lisa studied business and sales at Davenport College. She then embarked on a career focused in sales. With a heart for service, Lisa transitioned from the corporate world into the role of volunteer. Lisa currently volunteers at Kids Food Basket and serves on the board at Resilience Advocates for Ending Violence.

Family Hope Foundation was fortunate to connect with Lisa at a time when she was ready to expand her volunteering. Says Lisa, “I personally reached out to Family Hope Foundation to pursue opportunities to serve. When meeting with Jane Eppard and Kim Koele from Family Hope Foundation, I felt compelled to pursue work with the events committee. I am task orientated and hands-on, and I enjoy putting events together. It will be satisfying to help make sure everything is in place so the focus can be to provide joy and great memories to families.”

Lisa has a disabled cousin she assists in taking care of and through this has become aware of the limits available to some children and families in our community who have various challenges. Says Lisa, “Family Hope Foundation is an organization that struck a personal chord with me and I love that the organization is involved in helping families who would otherwise have nowhere to turn to for help and for assistance and support.”

Lisa and her husband, Buzz, live in Holland. She has two children they enjoy spending time with. Her eldest, a daughter Felicia, works in the Grand Rapids area and her son Ken just completed his first year at GVSU. When not volunteering or spending time with family Lisa enjoys staying active, loves to read, sharing time with close friends, and they are big beach lovers!

We are delighted to welcome Lisa to the team and are thankful for the wonderful skills and positive perspective she will add to the Events Committee.

Silence isn’t bliss

There was a time when I thought silence was bliss. But then my son stopped talking. It wasn’t sudden—a slow progression over the last year. Now, the silence in my house is deafening, and it doesn’t feel good—to say it’s unsettling is mild. We have a new diagnoses to digest and manage—selective mutism—often brought on […]
