“We felt included, and though that may not seem like a lot to some, it meant the world to us.”
This is the sort of sentiment we hear time and again from Family Hope Foundation families each time we host a family event…inclusive, stress-free events designed for the whole family to enjoy.
We recently gathered with families at a West Michigan Whitecaps baseball game. While it was a bit chilly outside, we enjoyed our time together inside the cozy comfort of the Pepsi Stadium Club. It was a wonderful afternoon for all, made possible by the primary sponsorship of Lighthouse Title Group and an in-part sponsorship from Walker AMBUCS.
Families enjoyed a delicious lunch while the outdoor viewing area buzzed with excitement. Guests watched pitchers warm up just steps away—and to top it all off, we got a special visit from Rosie, a beloved Whitecaps mascot.
It was the perfect opportunity for families to enjoy time together while also connecting with others. Making it even more fun, we were all able to witness the first homerun of the season, and the Whitecaps won in extra innings!
It was a fantastic afternoon to create treasured moments and lasting memories.
We were thrilled with the number of families that were able to join us. One of them, the Reier family, has been a member of Family Hope Foundation since our founding year–they truly are celebrating our 15th anniversary with us!
While at the game, they shared with us and our sponsor a very special photo–a snapshot of their first Family Hope Foundation Whitecaps family event from 2016.
“Family Hope Foundation was the very first connection we had as we were in the beginning stages of figuring out what it meant to have a child with a disability. Because of all the noise, stimulations, and distractions, it was almost impossible for us to attend public stadium events back then. With therapy and years of events put on by Family Hope Foundation, our son, now 16, and our entire family, are able to enjoy these fun events together,” said Jennifer Reier.
Dave Nichols of Lighthouse Title Group shared, “It was very touching and kind of Jennifer to share their story with us and offer their thanks. On behalf of Bob Wuerfel and our team at Lighthouse Title, thank YOU, Family Hope Foundation, for serving families with these fun events. It was our pleasure to be a small part of it.”
We are deeply grateful for moments like these. Family events remind us that everyone belongs, everyone matters, and together, we’re building something meaningful.
With heartfelt thanks, Your friends at Family Hope Foundation
At Family Hope Foundation, we believe every child has a unique superpower. We asked Maverick’s parents, Terrie and Gavin, to share his superpower.
